Anthem Days was a great time. We had our whole family -- kids included -- meeting and greeting our community and our customers. Our daughters' dressed up like green butterflies (wings and glitter included) passing out balloons to the kids. Our boys set up and played games with them to win fabulous prizes! We were all dressed in bright green and it was a lot of fun.

The weather thankfully cooperated and it was a sunny, breezy Arizona weekend.

It was great to share the 'go green' story with so many people -- both neighbors, friends, visitors and even other vendors. And we know that a lot of people who came by our booth were referred by our customers, so THANK YOU! It was exciting to see how receptive people were to the concept of trying alternatives to pesticides and chemicals in their homes.

I really felt like we really might be making a difference! Already hundreds of families in Anthem have replaced pesticides with natural solutions, so there's already tons less toxicity in our community - Yep, we're on our way to bigger and better things already!

Also, we were featured in an article in Natural Awakenings Magazine this month -- see page 9!

We'll be posting videos and photos to our website just as soon as my husband and I can figure out how to do that, so check back next week! Till then -

Go Green & Prosper!

Lizzy

This ain't no April Fools... I saw my first scorpion of the year. EEEK!

I saw my first scorpion of the year today April 1, 2009.

There we were, my daughters Hannah and Emily and I rushing out to the car to get to school, when Emily froze in her shoes, shrieked and pointed at a scorpion skittering across the garage floor to its hiding spot under an ice chest!

Dang! I thought, it's already that time of the year again when the bugs come out. First its the scorpions... then the biting ants in the grass, then all sorts of other creepy, crawly desert pests. Yuck!

You think I would have thought of how much I dislike bugs before my family and I got in the pest control business... or maybe that's why we did -- because I hate bugs as much as the next gal.

So maybe its because my sister, Rebecca, and I can't stand those sneaky stingy suckers that our hubbys Bill (mine) and Bob (Bec's) developed the ultimate scorpion abatement treatment last fall. The day/night service includes inside/outside/attic spraying, night hunts consisting of black lights, jars and tweezers, etc. Let me tell you, they spent many a warm night poking and spraying around our houses (and our friends' houses) 'til the wee hours, until we were finally SCORPION FREE!

Yes, it really is possible to get rid of scorpions in the desert. I've lived in Arizona 27 summers now and I didn't think it was possible, but it is. It does take effort though -- especially if you don't want to use toxic chemicals in and around your house. We love our dogs (we have 2 dogs, Maggie and Sputnick, and Bec and Bob have 3 dogs Rambo, Buddy and Puff) too much to risk that, so we thought it was worth the research and effort.

So honey, break out your black light, those long-handled tweezers and your jar of spraying stuff, cuz theyyy'rrre baaaack...

FRIENDS: IF YOU WANT TO DO A NIGHT-TIME SCORPION HUNT AT YOUR HOUSE -- WE'LL GIVE YOU A PERSONAL SPORPION-FINDER LIGHT (a mini-black light flashlight) FREE! Just call Bec at the office at 623-533-3890.

NEWSFLASH: CHECK OUT OUR BOOTH AT ANTHEM DAYS APRIL 4-5! Lots of games, prizes, coupons and fun for the whole family!!

That's all for Natural Home Solutions Today -
Lizzy

Welcome Friends to the Natural Home Solutions Blog

Welcome to the first entry of the Natural Home Solutions Blog.

For those of you who don't know it, NHS is a family-owned and operated business based in Anthem -- by me (Liz), my husband Bill and our 4 teenage kids (who help out with whatever we can bribe them to do when they're not on their computers, cell phones or iPods). But the real work is done every day by my sister Bec, her husband Bob, her son Daniel. Their teenage daughter Ashley is also a pretty willing helper.

The newest members of the NHS family include Erin and Sven Ruecklies, and their sons, Hans and Max. We feel blessed to have them with us as well!

By the way -- you can meet the whole family at ANTHEM DAYS, APRIL 4-5.

In this blog, we hope to share tips, tricks, information and resources that we find along the way with friends, customers and other like-minded (i.e. smart) people, and to engage in a dialog with you about what works, what you like and ideas on how we can make a difference in this world.

As you may know, Natural Home Solutions exists to provide clean, green, safer, smarter solutions to people who care about what they bring into their homes and businesses, and expose to their families, pets and the environment.

We certainly don't know it all, so if you have tips you'd like to share, please reply back to my blog and share it with us!

We welcome your feedback on how we can improve our services and provide the best possible natural home solutions!

This is our first time doing a blog, so if we mess up, please go easy on us.

Live green and prosper!!

Lizzy
